Rocco Forte Hotels Enters the Middle East with its Glassy Abu Dhabi Hotel

A wave-shaped glass building is now home to the new Rocco Forte Hotel Abu Dhabi, the first hotel in the Middle East from Europe’s luxury hotel brand Rocco Forte Hotels. The hotel opened its doors earlier this month and includes 281 bedrooms, four restaurants, two bars, a large spa, ballroom and meeting rooms. A third bar will open in December.

WS Atkins and Partners designed the 11-story, curved glass structure, which consists of green and blue glass panels, reflecting the colors of the Arabian Sea. The 28,000 square meter project was developed by UAE’s Al Farida Investments Company in conjunction with Abu Dhabi’s Tourism Development & Investment Company.

“This is the first Rocco Forte Hotel to open in the Middle East and represents our most architecturally bold property to date. It is visually stunning inside and out. Every detail has been considered to offer elegance and comfort to our guests,” says Sir Rocco Forte, chairman and chief executive officer of Rocco Forte Hotels. “My sister, Olga Polizzi, director of design for Rocco Forte Hotels, has together with interior-design specialists KCA International, created a very stylish, contemporary European design with abundant glass and mosaics complemented by modern Middle Eastern art and accessories, to give the hotel a real senseof place.”

Glazing highlights include large curved glass windows in the guest bedrooms, and the Blue Bar, which is housed in thesuspended sixth floor of an 11-story glass atrium.
