Glazing Helps New Luxury Rental Rise Above High Line Park

Designed by Gerner Kronick + Valcarcel Architects PC (GKV), a New York-based architecture firm, the façade of 500 West 23rd Street stands as a stunning composition of translucent glass set within an ornamental cast-in-place concrete frame. The straightforward aesthetic was designed to juxtapose the smooth glass and aluminum window units next to the textured surface of structural concrete, and highlights the strengths of both elements. Developed by Equity Residential, 500 West 23rd Street is scheduled to be completed by November 2011.

Consistent with the building’s location, 500 West 23rd Street is constructed using environmentally conscious methods and materials. Some of the eco-friendly building materials include windows with clear low-E glass and white translucent energy-efficient Solera glass units on the roof gardens and terraces.
