Association of Licensed Architects (ALA) Names Design Award Winners

December 1st, 2010 | Category: Industry News

The ALA recently held its 12th annual Design Awards and recognized excellent use of architecture. Among the many awards given out the Don Erickson Presidential Award, named for the association’s founder and first president, was given to DLR Group, Chicago. Metea Valley High School in Aurora, DLR Group’s project, provided students with exposure to natural light while still maintaining a safe environment for high schoolers. The project was recognized for the materials used and the quality of light in the project.

“This year’s projects surpassed our expectations,” said Peg McLean, ALA Executive Director. “We found them to be innovative in use of space, sustainable materials, technical proficiency and artistic excellence.”

The Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facility in Hong Kong won the Merit Award for the unbuilt category.
