PPG Debuts New Web-Based BIM Module for Architects
May 12th, 2009 | Category: Industry NewsPPG has launched a Web-based tool that allows architects to access Building Information Modeling (BIM) files for its architectural glass products, Duranar coatings, Pittsburgh Paints and Porter Paints. The PPG Ideascapes website enables architects to download Revit Architecture files so they can incorporate the products into their digital designs. The files may also be used with Google SketchUp Viewer, another popular building modeling software.
The BIM modules are part of the company’s on-going effort to give architects and contractors a collection of web-based tools designed to help them streamline the design, documentation and construction of environmentally-sustainable buildings.
Another recent addition is the Green Building Resource Center, an interactive illustration that highlights sustainable PPG products for building envelopes and interiors (http://ppgideascapes.com/greenbuilding). The website also features a LEED support center.
