Glass and Glazing Companies to Exhibit at AIA Expo

From high-performance glass and curtainwall systems to new styles and trends, glass and metal suppliers will be exhibiting their latest products and services during the 2009 AIA National Convention and Design Exposition, which will take place April 30-May 2 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

The theme for this year’s event is “The Power of Diversity: Practice in a Complex World.” According to the AIA the theme does the following:

  • Implies strength drawn from many perspectives;
  • Challenges us to understand and balance the needs of our clients with the complexity of our world; and
  • Represents the essence of our future.

Glass suppliers that will be on hand include AGC Flat Glass, Arch Aluminum and Glass, Dlubak, Oldcastle Glass, Pilkington North America, PPG Industries, Viracon, Zeledyne and many others. Some specialty glass companies, such as SAFTI First, will display their developments in fire-rated glazing, while curtainwall suppliers, such as Kawneer, will offer a diverse range of products, while also providing AIA-Registered Expo Education programs. Some of the other companies that will offer AIA Expo on commercial glazing include Schott Glass, Thermique Technologies and Pella Corp.

In addition, the seminar program will feature a number of presentations. Some of those offered include:
The Art and Science of Designing to Net-Zero; BIM: New Era for Design = New Era for Communications; and GSA: Greening Federal Facilities.
